Spot Poetry

Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 2026

Spot Poetry lets you write a poem, tie it to a place, and share it with the people nearby. This policy explains what the app collects, why, and who it reaches. We collect only what the app needs to work, and we do not sell your data or use advertising or third-party analytics.

What we collect

  • Your phone numberused to create your account and sign you in. It is stored privately and is never shown on your poems or to other people.
  • Locationused to show poems near you on the map. When you choose to post a poem with a location attached, that location becomes part of the public poem so others can find it on the map. A poem you keep to yourself is not shared.
  • Photos and audio you attachbecome part of a poem you post and are shown publicly with it. If you do not attach them, they are not collected.
  • Your pen name and poem textare shown publicly on poems you choose to post. A pen name is a signature you pick; it is not tied to your phone number in anything the public can see.
  • A notification tokencollected only if you allow notifications, so we can send the daily writing reminder. Decline and it is never collected.

Who processes your data

The app runs on Google Firebase (authentication, database, file storage, and security checks) and displays maps through Google Maps. These providers process data on our behalf so the app can function. We do not share your data with advertisers or data brokers.

What is public and what is private

A poem is private until you post it. When you post one, its text, pen name, and any attached location, photo, or audio become publicly visible on the map and in the feed. Your phone number stays private either way.

Keeping and deleting your data

To delete your account and the poems tied to it, reach us through the support page. We keep your data only as long as your account is active or as needed to run the service.

Children

Spot Poetry is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them.
